Young Devon has been recognised as the 8th best UK charity to work for in 2021. An accolade given by the highly-respected Best Companies, following a UK wide consultation process that is recognised as the standard in workplace engagement.
Achieving this standard is a reflection of how positively the charity’s team of over 150 staff and 75 volunteers feel about their workplace and colleagues…
“I love working for Young Devon, the charity makes me feel so appreciated as a member of staff. Not only are Young Devon amazing at supporting young people, they’re also great at supporting their own staff and put a lot of emphasis on wellbeing and mental health”
- Katie Murphy, Young Devon staff member
“Young Devon has done so much for me; from helping me with their Skills courses, to giving me a job and helping me grow and develop. I feel respected, listened to and valued by every single member of staff, no issue is too big or too small… it genuinely feels like we’re all a family, and here for each other, especially in lockdown. The work everyone does for young people is incredible and I am proud, happy and grateful to be given the chance to be a part of it…”
- Kayleigh Bilby, Young Devon staff member
The charity dedicates this award to their incredible staff and volunteers; many of whom have kept working throughout the pandemic, as frontline workers. Young Devon’s teams of amazing staff provide critical housing support to young people who are at risk of homelessness, wellbeing support for young people who are struggling with their mental health and skills support to young people who need extra help with their next steps.

Overwhelmed and delighted; Young Devon’s Chief Executive, Andrew Moreman, said…
“Working with young people who need help can be a real challenge; working with young people who need help during the pandemic has tested every member of our staff to their limits. Being recognised as the 8th best UK charity to work for at a critical time like this is truly inspiring. This achievement tells us everything we’ve known about how Young Devon colleagues feel about their jobs, about each other and about working for Young Devon. This is not a celebration of the charity or the organisation, this is a celebration of the people who have stood by each other, and by the young people they’re helping in the toughest times we’ve known. I am truly in awe of each one of them.”
- Andrew Moreman, Chief Executive, Young Devon
