The Wellbeing Café

Here at Young Devon, young people told us they wanted a free, friendly and relaxed space they could come to for support around their mental health and wellbeing. That sounded like a great idea to us, so we have set up three Wellbeing Café’s for them to come to in some of our centres across Devon!

What is a Wellbeing Café?

A Wellbeing Café doesn’t mean it happens in a café! A Wellbeing Café is somewhere young people can go to find a menu of activities and resources available to them that help and support them with their wellbeing.

What’s on the menu?

There are a variety of yummy things available! From mindfulness and relaxation workshops, to cooking and healthy eating, right through to structured weekly workshops delivered by our trained professionals dealing with issues such as anxiety, low mood and self-esteem. It really is up to the young people what they want to be involved in.

Where are they located?

Our longest running Wellbeing Café is in the Exeter

YES

Centre (39 George Street, Exeter, EX1 1DA) which was hugely successful and is due to start up again as planned in September.

We have just recently opened our second Café in Barnstaple at Georgie’s Youth Centre (21 St Georges Road, Barnstaple, EX32 7AU) last in July.

And we now have one due to open in The Change Academy in Newton abbot on Monday 12th August!

We have had loads of support for this project from a multitude of people. Our friends at Space* liked the idea so much they have let us use one of their youth centres, our local

NCS

group in Newton Abbot raised over £250 that we can use for much needed resources in our Café’s and our local

ASDA

have donated all the food for our Pizza making sessions!

How do I get involved?

We’d love to have you visit one of our spaces! Please call 01392331666 or email
