On the 17th – 19th September, Plymouth dad Ollie Jackman will be running from the North to the South of Devon; all in the name of local young people’s charity Young Devon.
Ollie’s inspiration came from weeks of being locked down during the COVID-19 pandemic. Motivated to make a difference to support young people in need, Ollie has partnered with Young Devon to create the ‘Run Devon’ fundraising campaign; raising awareness and gathering donations for the Devon-based charity.
Ollie’s route will start at Countisbury, the most northern point of Devon and finish at East Prawle, the most southerly point. It will take three days to accomplish and he will be followed by a support crew and joined by Young Devon staff, who will accompany him on various parts of the route. Along the way Ollie will record short videos diaries and post them to www.rundevon.org so that people can follow his progress and be part of this epic adventure.
“I want to use my run as a vehicle to raise awareness and fundraising for Young Devon… I am doing this for a purpose and a reason… hopefully a lot of people in Devon who are not aware of Young Devon will start to realise and pay some attention…”
- Ollie Jackman
Young Devon Chief Executive was so taken back by Ollie’s commitment that he has agreed to run the last 15 miles in support.
“I am always overwhelmed by people who want to support our work – now more than ever. The least I can do is strap on my running shoes and #FollowOllie”
- Andrew Moreman, CEO of Young Devon
This epic charity run is already building a flurry of excitement with local people and business across Devon; you can check out the campaign at www.rundevon.org, or via Young Devon’s social media.
All donations made to this campaign go to Young Devon and will be used to make a difference to the lives of young people in need; reducing disadvantage and improving opportunity for young people all over Devon.
