At Young Devon we are working hard to build a more open environment where disabled people are included and valued. Our Equality, Diversity and Inclusivity Working Group will be raising awareness of all equality matters, including disability, over the next year.

As a Disability Confident employer, we recognise the valuable role disabled people play in our success.

November 2018 is the anniversary of the Disability Confident scheme and we are taking part alongside businesses across the UK. The theme for the month is ‘confidence’. Confidence for disabled and non-disabled people to talk about disability and to recognise the value disabled people bring to the work place.

To celebrate the anniversary, we are looking for any stories, quotes, photographs and videos from you around the theme of ‘confidence’. You can take part whether you have a disability or not;

There are loads of ways to get involved:

  • Contact Sarah Johnson (HR) with your story about overcoming a disability or health condition at work
  • Take a selfie at work and tell the world how proud you are to work for a Disability Confident organisation using #IAmConfident
  • Tweet your inspiring stories about disability in the workplace using #IAmConfident and give Young Devon a mention

Remember to use the hashtag #IAmConfident to link up to hundreds of other people who are celebrating what can be achieved when we are confident about disability.

You can find out more about Disability Confident on the scheme page.
