Are you inspired by Young People and their communities?
Are you able to engage in a team to deliver high-quality youth work interventions?
The Youth Enquiry Service (YES) in Barnstaple supports young people aged 11-25. We have created a safe space for young people to develop help-seeking behaviour from trusted relationships with trained and experienced adults who are able to listen well and respond accordingly. You will get to know young people by providing a warm, safe and structured environment which enables young people to explore difficulties and develop solutions. You will be based in Barnstaple YES centre delivering group and 1:1 youth work as well as working in a range of community settings and schools.
As part of this role, you will be working with Young People who have experienced Domestic Abuse and have been Victims of Crime, to deliver trauma-informed support. Listening to and valuing young people’s experiences, understanding the impact on them and empowering them to move forwards and achieve their goals. You will hold a manageable caseload and provide a range of support tailored to the individual needs of the young person. This might include support around safety planning, self-esteem, managing emotions, understanding the impacts of trauma, healthy relationships and making informed choices.
Please note- The post holder will be expected to have access to a car to be able to travel within the locality and occasionally elsewhere, at times transporting young people in their own vehicle.
