Established 8 years ago our Change Academy (with staff-teams based in Newton Abbot, Exeter, Honiton, Torquay, Barnstaple and Plymouth) works to provide young people with the opportunities to engage in a mix of skills & training programmes alongside specific community volunteering and social action projects. 20161108 124029

Step Up & Independent Living Skills – Qualifications in progression (Barnstaple, Exeter, and Torbay)

A range of flexible and responsive programmes in general and pre-vocational qualifications that have been devised with the aim to progress young people into further learning and/or employment. To date 127 young people have engaged in the programme with a 80% successfully passing functional skills numeracy and, or literacy. A further 98% have passed an employability or work based learning qualification.

Prince’s Trust Team programme (Newton Abbot)

We are now entering our 3rd year of delivering the team program in partnership with the Prince’s Trust. This 12-week personal development course, offers work experience, qualifications, practical skills, community projects and a residential week. Last year 22 young people successfully completed their programme

Work based learning Programmes & Apprenticeships (Exeter & Newton Abbot)

We are now in our 3rd year of offering a range of opportunities for young people just starting out on their pathway to employment through a mix of traineeships and apprenticeships. We currently offer individuals opportunities within administration, youth work, customer service and catering. To date 23 young people have been supported in achieving these qualifactions

23 young people over 3 courses achieving Level 1 Certificate in Team Work, Community and Employability.
4 young people have undertaken or are undertaking an apprenticeship as part of the Young Devon offer including business administration and Youth work practice..
