In their recent report The Financial Inclusion Centre found that only 15% of 18 – 24 year olds have moderate to high levels of financial awareness. 54% have over £10,000 of unsecured debt and 75% are relying on some kind of credit. Credit Action's findings are no less worrying; 27% of all students had received no education in money at school, 46% do not talk about finance with their parents and 36% see debt as an inevitable part of their lives.
