Young Devon's purpose is 'Changing the odds in favour of Young People'. The organisation wants to facilitate every young person to grow as an individual valued by themselves, by others and by society.Young Devon has recently revised its values through feedback received from Trustees, staff at all levels of the organisation and young people.
Young Devon regards its values as enduring dispositions that help staff make daily judgements and decisions that influence their actions and behaviours at work. Our values reflect what our workforce authentically believes in relation to our work with each other, young people and other stakeholders.
...were fed back to us by both staff and young people as significant values for Young Devon to hold; but there were two further values that were seen as key and at the heart of what we do:
For a sizable minority of young people we come into contact with through Young Devon, they have reached a point in their lives where they have little or no belief in themselves or other people. Believing in all young people's potential to achieve is fundamental to our work and finding innovative ways of conveying that message of hope is continuously practiced by staff daily.
Our collective desire to find ways of helping young people find their own pathway to fulfilment is strongly re-enforced by our genuine commitment to "being there". This means ensuring real accessibility & availability when it is needed most. Treating every young person individually, by using a person-centered approach, with an emphasis on recognizing personal strengths is also key in our way of working.
