Workforce Forum

dsc 2144

“I hope the key to a good workforce forum is that we can all have a share in inputting to the organisation and its success making it a great place to work with ownership from us all. We have so many hidden resources within the skills of our workforce that this is a chance to steer/guide and respond by giving the workforce a voice and opportunity to develop our organisation. The forum offers us all opportunities, seeks our opinions, shapes our ideas and understanding. If you would like to act as the voice for your team and feel you have the skills to represent them than please put your name forward”. Look forward to seeing you there and if you have any questions please give me a ring – Ros Arscott

What is the Workforce Forum?

The Forum provides a setting for discussion about any issues, ideas, opportunities, developments or questions which staff or teams/projects wish to raise.

The aim is that the workforce collectively has the opportunity to help shape and develop Young Devon.

Membership is drawn from geographical areas of the organisation (via an open invitation).  Two representatives from each geographical area of YD should attend every meeting.

Any member of staff can raise items for the agenda, either via their team’s representative(s) during team meetings, by speaking to their line manageror speaking to or emailing any representative of the Workforce Forum.

Depending on the nature of issues discussed, the outcomes of discussions will be actioned within the forum or forwarded to relevant sub groups (Health and Safety and Safeguarding; HR & Workforce Development; Finance & Risk Management; Communications, Marketing and Fundraising; Voice of Young People) or other committees (SLG; Operational Managers; R&D Group) for discussion and for a conclusion and final decision to be reached.  These may have to be forwarded on to the Trustee Board for final approval.

"Because I don’t get to leave the office much this group gives me the opportunity to meet teams I wouldn’t normally get to see." - T

"It is like a funnel of voices that get into the workforce forum from each area.  It makes people feel valued and feels like I am being heard." - J

"It is empowering to act as an advocate for a number of voices.   It is good for voices to be held in North Devon and helps with connectivity." - A
